Sunderland’s £100m deal with Legal and General has made the shortlist in prestigious industry awards.
The city’s ground-breaking contract with Legal & General, that will fund three new developments on the Riverside Sunderland site, has made the shortlist in the coveted Deal of the Year category of the Insider North East Property Awards.
In addition, Sunderland City Council and its property agents Knight Frank and Naylors Gavin Black have been shortlisted for their work in attracting global grocery business Ocado to The Beam.
The building itself has also been shortlisted in the Commercial Property Development of the Year.
The Insider North East Property Awards recognises and rewards the region’s property sector, showcasing the best developments, schemes and deals from the last twelve months and the skilled agents, developers, investors and other property professionals who drive the region’s industry.
Peter McIntyre, executive director of city development at Sunderland City Council, said: “There have been tremendous strides forward in Sunderland over the last 12 months, and there has been a growing sense of momentum, that we hope we can continue to build on as we emerge from the COVID-19 crisis.
“We have seen waves of investment that will be truly transformational for the city, and it is fantastic that our efforts have been recognised in this way.”
The Insider North East Property Awards will take place on Thursday, September 17, with the winner of ten categories set to be announced.
