A Wearside telecoms and IT business is moving to new headquarters and increasing its team after seeing a business boom as more clients adapt to remote working.
Sirius, a Washington-based integrated IT and communications company, is preparing to move its team into its own space at Crowther Industrial Estate as it looks to build on the success it has seen since it was formed two years ago.
Already a team of six, the fast-growing company has taken the leap to move to stand-alone premises which will provide scope for expansion and is targeting larger clients with a combined offer of telecoms – both mobile and VoIP telephony – as well as IT and network assistance.
The business has seen turnover rise by 45 per cent compared with last year, and is looking to build on its success with new team members and an ISO accreditation that will help position it to support larger clients, as well as small, independent businesses.
Jolene Sundin, CEO at Sirius, said: “So many companies have been forced to operate in more agile ways over the last few months, and in doing so have required telecommunication and IT solutions to support these changes.
“We have seen a surge in clients requiring support to digitally enable them, and it’s something we are sure we will continue to see as businesses innovate and adapt in order to survive and overcome the challenges that lie ahead as we continue to deal with the impact of Covid-19.
“We set up the company with a very clear vision of always doing the right thing, and building meaningful and mutually beneficial partnerships with the organisations we support. The trust our clients have in us has really come to the fore over the last few months, and we are incredibly proud of our retention record which is over 99%,” she added.
“Many of our customers have recommended us to others, helping the business to grow organically, and at a very natural pace, allowing us to maintain exceptional customer service at all times.”
Sirius has been supported by Sunderland City Council’s business investment team since it was launched. The company has now taken its new 3,000 sq ft office and the team will move soon, although it continues to support remote-working, which is allowing Sirius to carry out a significant programme of improvements in anticipation of the team returning to their office environment over the coming months.
Jolene said: “We’ve moved to homeworking like many businesses in response to the pandemic.
“However we will be moving to our new office when it’s fitted out to a high standard, providing a place we can be proud to call home, and can continue to expand as the business grows.”
The company is seeking new members of staff to support its IT division, which is a growing part of the business. Many of the firm’s customers have sought a more integrated solution since the pandemic hit, bringing together telecoms and IT support in a one-stop-shop.
She added: “We are offering a 360-degree service, from communications devices like mobile and desk telephony, to IT such as server and network support – and internet connectivity and cabling.
“We know that our clients are looking for this integrated approach and we’re seeing it pay dividends, as we add larger contracts to our portfolio.”
The company works with clients including a large care provider, regional and local charities, a utilities provider and a range of North-East restaurants.
