A fast-growing Sunderland tech company has appointed a senior leader to drive its growth, after acquiring a global digital company.
Saggezza has appointed experienced digital expert Suhail Ahmed to guide the growth of a new arm of the company, Saggezza Digital.
The company, which helps businesses unlock the power of their date, has also taken over Communisis Digital, a global web development agency.
Mr Ahmed joins the firm from TI Cycles of India, where he headed the eCommerce business and managed brands.
He is an MBA graduate, from IE Business School in Madrid, Spain and has run his own successful online e-commerce venture, after starting his career in the financial industry.
Founded in 1995, Communisis Digital provided outsourced development support to web and digital agencies, helping build complex microsites and apps using a range of technologies.
It will now become Saggezza Digital, part of the Saggezza business, which has bases in Sunderland and London in the UK, as well as the US and India.
Mr Ahmed, who will work across all of the company’s global locations said: “This new arm of the business represents a significant opportunity for Saggezza to grow, and I am really looking forward to bringing my experience of working with brands and running e-commerce businesses to help agencies and brands that we work with solve their business problems with the right technology stack.”
The firm now works with a number of UK marketing, creative and advertising agencies on projects for a range of household brands, from fast-moving consumer goods manufacturers to third sector organisations and banking and telecoms giants, building sites and apps using a range of technologies.
Its capabilities include building CMS based websites, ecommerce sites and other technically challenging development briefs.
Saggezza started working with Communisis on a range of projects in 2016, but has now taken full control of the business, with ambitious plans to develop Saggezza Digital, growing its client base globally.
This is the second high-profile acquisition Saggezza has made this year following the takeover of US IT consulting, talent and software development firm, Omni, and Martin Williams, UK managing director at Saggezza, believes the acquisitions will play a key role in helping the company continue its upward trajectory.
Martin said: “Communisis Digital was a great company with a fantastic and highly-skilled team and we’re delighted to be able to welcome them into the Saggezza family.
“in the years we’ve worked shoulder-to-shoulder with colleagues from the company, we have witnessed first-hand how our services dovetail, offering an unrivalled experience to clients and adding real value to the projects we’ve worked on.
“To have this now, as part of our own business, is fantastic and we have exciting plans for the growth of the company.
“The acquisitions of both Communisis Digital and Omni are testament to just how much we’ve grown over recent years.
“Both brands are held in extremely high regard for the services they offer within their respective markets and will really help enhance not only the breadth but the quality of services we are able to offer.
“Saggezza is a company in growth mode and we’re excited to see what the future holds. Over the last year, we’ve doubled our headcount in our UK head office in Sunderland and have similar ambitions for the year ahead as we continue growing.”
The acquisition has seen an additional 10 people join the global Saggezza business, delivering support to clients around the world, but with most in London.
