A major Durham construction firm is back on the rooftops of the city after emerging from the Covid-19 lockdown.

And J&C’s Roofing & Building Services have launched a new video filmed on location in the city centre to boost their return to work.

The company, based at Glenburn House in Sherburn Road, Durham, were forced to cut back on their services for new and regular household customers and businesses in the region in March.

Director Jamie Welch said the business which has been established in County Durham for more than 20 years, had managed to function during the early stages of the pandemic when the majority of building and construction work throughout the country has been halted.

Now, following the recent announcement of government guidelines to lift restrictions for the building and construction trade, J&C’s Roofing & Building Services are ready to get back to their customers.

And Jamie said he has drawn up a series of guidelines for his staff which will ensure safety for workers and clients.

He said: “We have given careful consideration, planning and a structure as to how we can practically move forward within the government guidelines announced earlier this week.

“We have had a significant amount of communication over the last couple of weeks, with our existing customers, keeping them updated, and we have been receiving an overwhelmingly positive response for us to begin trading and offering our first class services once again.

“We are now in the position to be able to start, however at the moment it will be at a slightly slower moving pace and for the coming weeks, with most of our suppliers operating an efficient order and collect service.

“All of our operatives are briefed on required procedures and we are ready to go. We hope everyone stays safe, so we can move through this crisis sensibly.”

The company’s new guidelines will be available on its website as Jamie and brother and fellow director Cresswell, look to reassure customers they can function and deliver their services safely.

The website also includes a new promotional, video, put together by fledgling Durham-based company Canvas HQ, who joined the J&C team on a job in the city before the lockdown kicked in.

The footage features work on one of the hundreds of commercial and household contracts undertaken by the company, as well as offering an insight into their work, which is leading the way in the region.

J&C are the first company in the North-East to use the Resitrix SK flat-roofing system, which provides state of the art waterproofing without the need for a full roof replacement.

Jamie added: “We have a wealth of experience in the industry and we are able to offer sound, honest advice within a competitive pricing structure, providing first class roofing and building services around the city of Durham and across the North East.

“It was good to have the lads with us for the day to see the team at work, and also take in some of the incredible views of the city, from the rooftops, which we can all take for granted.”
